I can't sleep, had too many diet cokes tonight and i'm wired. I'm actually quite tired but evidentlly not tired enough. Lots going on here so that definitely is a contributing factor as well.
David leaves for college tomorrow which is really today now. He is driving 15 hours and being a Mom I will be anxious to hear from him making it safely on the other end. Tonight was his last night at Applebees and he's the one responsible for the soda. We decided to go in for dinner his last night and as soon as I'd finish my drink, he's back with another. I'm really getting quite sick of Applebee's food, but just chalk this up doing for your kid thing. Ha, how many times do we do that? He always likes us to come in. I actually think he likes waiting on us. Pretty interesting. He's the baby of the family and I've been accused all these years (by his brothers) of babying him too much. It all started with the P&B sandwiches I made for him when he was younger. I won't bore you with the details.
After his shift ended the employees threw him a party. And guess what they had for food? Yep, a good old Applebee's buffet. Surprise, Surprise. It's the thought that counts tho. He really enjoyed working with this group and came home with some very interesting waiting-on -tables' stories that we will most certainly miss and very worthy of a future blog.
After he leaves at 9 am we have a funeral to do. The one we're doing it for is a regular in our church. She is mentally challenged, and it was her husband who died. We've just recently found out she was even married. There is some question as to whether she even ever lived with him or not. He was in a nursing home and she lives in a group home. She seems very cognizant as to what is going on and is working with us on the details with some help from the Pastor. But we love her to pieces and want to give her the respect and love she gives all of us in helping her bury her husband.
X-country practice started last week ,so I'm busy in that realm as well. We are looking at a great team in the making on the girl's' side and are just thrilled we're finally going to have a full freshmen team for once on the boy's side. We could quite easily be in the running for a state title with the girls next year we're thinking. Usually we get a slew of girls and only 5-6 boys total. It takes seven to make a full team but only five score. So right now we have 8-10 boys and school hasn't started yet. This is still pre-season. We expect to get a few more once the dorm kids head here from all over the world. The problem is we seldom get any real talent from these far off places. In the nine years I've been coaching we've had only a couple that were really in any type of scoring position. The neat thing tho is to see them improve over the course of two months. It really is noticeable.
Now that I'll have the empty nest again, I'm thinking of getting back to my studies. I've been taking a two year distance learning course on biblical studies from Liberty and am anxious to get back to it. I took time off for various reasons and have not had the time to sit down and get back into it. I'll try not to bore you with that as well. I find it interesting stuff but many may not.
We're preparing a list and gathering materials to work on the house in two weeks. We decided to stay home for this vacation and work on things we've been neglecting. We have tons to do. We've let things go for too long. Lots of painting inside and out, a retaining wall needs to be rebuilt, flower gardens need cutting, septic needs to be pumped, screen porch needs new screens and many landscape ties need to be replaced. That's just the beginning.
I still have three lessons to prepare this week for bible study and a library to check on and clean up. So I guess I'd better get off my butt and get some sleep so I can hit the ground running tomorrow.....hahaha not literally, I'll do that run in the afternoon after the funeral.
So with that I bid you good night.....or good morning.....whatever....just have a good one.
