Last Friday Aly's 14 year old sister Abby was in a bad jet ski accident. Aly called us, hysterical ,asking us to pray for Abby. Aly was very scared she might lose her sister. Abby fell off the jet ski as someone else was driving and hit the motor with her backside. At first they thought she was ok but then she turned very white and they called the ambulance. She ended up getting airlifted to a hospital in Wisconsin because they thought she may have internal injuries or bleeding. Aly was very scared saying she didn't look good at all.

Sure enough she did have internal injuries. She underwent a 5 hour surgery finding out when they went in that her intestinal wall was blown away and her insides were quite a mess. It was touch in go for the first couple of nights. We heard right away that she could be in there for as long as 3 months. She has a colostomy bag and looks like she may have to have that the rest of her life. There were also some question as to whether or not she would be able to bear children.

This has been very tough on the whole close knit family. They have not left her side since then sleeping right there in the room with her. She's a beautiful 14 year old active girl and this has just devestated her. Aly said she's gone into a depression which is quite common undergoing such trauma I understand. She loves to ride horses, and there's been some discussion that she may not be able to do this. I think it's too soon to tell. She was a very healthy active young girl and if anyone can bounce back I'm sure she will. She has not yet been able to eat and keep anything down. Infection which has been the greater concern still looms. But so far, no infection. This we attribute to God's healing power as she has many praying for her.

Our whole church a thousand miles away has taken Abby on for prayer. And those prayers thus far seem to be working. Aly wrote:

God is performing a miracle through her...she will touch many peoples lives, she already has! Just continue in prayer for healing properly and no infections...Our family is good, we have just given everything to the Lord, and it really points out what is truly important in our lives...Thank you so much for involving the church for prayer and for your family just praying!!..

The doctors are now saying that she has healed much sooner than expected on the outside. They had to operate again to open her up on the outside because they don't want that to heal before the inside does. The infection is still a concern and will be for the next two weeks. So we will continue to pray.

I covet your prayers as well for Abby.

I pray that she recovers from all of this trauma. Here is hoping that she will still have a wonderful life ahead of her.

My prayers go out for Abby! Dear Lord, that she survived this far is a miracle! I hope she recovers to the point where she can resume her life normally and be able to ride again.

Thank you to both. I really appreciate it.

I have never met Abby but her sister Aly is precious. A lady at my church recently said that God must have a very special plan for that family just because of what she sees in Aly.

The greatest thing is the doctor's expected infection with a 95% chance given the injury and it has not happened yet!!! We need to keep praying tho.

I pray that she recovers as well. That's a horrible experience to be going through.

Well we do have an update here. Actually a praise report. Thanks to answered prayer.

The doctors just released her. She's back home, she can't move much and the visiting nurses are dispatched. But she's home. In the beginning they were talking maybe 3 months. This is amazing news. She has had NO INFECTION. The chance was about 85% they were told. So this is definitely an answer to prayer.

In the first couple of days it was scary. They didn't think she'd make it. The doctors are pretty amazed at the quickness to her healing, but she still has a long ways to go.

So thanks to those who put up a prayer for Abby. From our lips to God's ears.
