Are they Compatible?
Published on February 5, 2006 By KFC Kickin For Christ In Religion
With all the latest news about the Muslim extremists and their latest acts of violence I thought I'd jump into the arena but with a different twist.

Lately I've been hearing that Islam and Christianity are compatible. Afterall they do follow the God of Abraham. But do they? Really? Let's take a closer look.

Closer examination will show that the faiths of Islam and Christianity are incompatible. Mohammed claimed that God's revelation to him was infallible. In doing so making the Quran the standard by which all other scriptures were to be tested. However the mere claim to fame means nothing unless backed up with adequate evidence.

The evidence for the inspiration and historical reliability of the bible is overwhelming while the evidence for the infallibility of the Quran is severely lacking.

Mohammed stated that the view of Jesus as seen thru the gospels is incorrect. He alone was given the correct view of this man Jesus in his revelation from God. Therefore the Muslim is to go to the Quran for proper understanding on Jesus rather than the New Testament account. The Jesus as revealed in the Quran is not the same Jesus as revealed in the gospels. Both cannot be true. One has to exclude the other.

The Quran states that "Jesus Christ the son of Mary, was no more than an apostle of God." (Sura 19:92). Of course the scriptures are quite clear that Jesus was more than mere man. He was not only Son of God, He was God.

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." (John 1:1)

The Quran further states that Jesus was only a prophet to the Nation Israel while Mohammud was the greatest prophet ever to live and to the whole world.

The Quran on the death of Christ states, "They neither killed nor crucifed Him ; it had only the appearance of it." Contrast this to the NT scripture which says, "And when they were come to the place called Calvary , there they crucified Him.

The bible teaches that Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary. Islam teaches Jesus was a miracle born of Mary but stops short of the virgin account. They believe Jesus was created in Mary's womb as Adam was fashioned from the earth. They say he is not the son of God or God at all.

Islam teaches faith by works. Your salvation depends on this. "They whose balances shall be heavy shall be blest. But they whose balances shall be light they shall lose their soul abiding Hell forever. (Sura 13:102-40). If the scale tips in favor of good works the Muslim will enter Paradise. If the scales tip down or away from good works the Muslim will be banished to Hell.

The Bible on the other hand teaches salvation by grace through Faith and not of works. "For by grace you have been saved thru Faith and not that of yourselves. It is the gift of God and not of works so no man can boast." Eph 2:8-9. "Not by works of righteousness which we have done but according to His mercy he saved us. Titus 3:5

Another fact worth considering when weighing the two major religions is how they were written down. Mohammed's testimony was not written down until 600 years after they occurred. The NT in comparison was written down by eyewittnesses and has firsthand testimony of the life and ministry of Jesus.

Christ made the distinction clear when he said, "This is the work of God that you believe in Him whom he has sent." John 6:29.

If you read about Abraham and his call from God you will see that he was called out of Ur (modern day Iraq). His family including his father Terah were idol worshippers worshipping the moon god. God called him out to be separate, and by his obedience to God's calling he was called the Father of many nations.

This took place about two thousand years or so before the birth of Islam. Allah, the moon god would make himself known through the prophet Mohummed, the descendant of Abraham thru his son Ishmael.......... and the rest is history."

They'll get over it.

KFC...That is a great summary of the differences between Christianity and Islam.

Great article!

I am not muslim for a reason.  As many holes that non christians poke in Christianity, you can drive SUVs through the Muslim ones.

I like that - Muhammad was given the divine word of the moon god! Classic! What branch of Christianity do you belong to anyway? I didn't realise there was one that believed in a moon deity.

Titus 3:5

But it also says a rich man has less chance of entering heaven than a camel through the eye of a needle. This implies that that rich man is not automatically saved. He must, at the least, do the 'good work' of losing his cash first. So obviously some are not saved purely because of Christ's sacrifice. Good works might also be necessary.

Dr. Guy,

I agree with you. From what I have read and understand of the Quran and of Mohammed's life. There are things that don't line up in Islam. I would take it a step further saying that you can drive Earth Movers through them.

By having some holes do you think that helps to reduce arrogancy? Leaving more to faith?

cacto-

Do a little research into Mohammed. I am willing to bet there will be MANY things that will suprise you. As for the moon that is pretty obvious. Just look at their Mosques. The symbol on the top is the partial moon.

KFC,

Maybe it's just me but it almost sounds like a he says she says kind of arguement. Course this is exactly why there is no peace. Peace meaning harmonious relationship. Thanks for the study.

The only one I'm really concerned with in the long run of offending is Christ.

Non Christians may try to poke holes......but to no avail.......CHRIST IS A ROCK~~~
and of course......my son, my son......glad to hear from ya.....LOL...... Cacto, The reason it's not easy for a rich man to enter heaven has nothing to do with his works and all about his trust in his riches instead of in God. Christ said also that you can't serve both God and money. It's alot easier to trust in God when God is all you've got.

This is where I am torn. I agree that we should at least be making efforts of peace but I know that Scripture says that there will not be peace until HIS return. Sometimes I think our efforts are frivilous.

It's alot easier to trust in God when God is all you've got.

This is true. I saw this with my eyes in Kyrgyzstan last fall. Poor in economy but RICH in spirit!

Dude,

We are told to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. This was written many many years ago, and as we look over there we can see we really do need to pray for the peace of this great city. I know from what prophecy says that there will be a false peace over there as well as the whole world that will last about 3 years just before all hell breaks out. So maybe by praying for the peace of Jerusalem it will help usher in the second coming.

I read somewhere that in all the years of recorded history we've only had 2-300 years of total peace total where there was not one war or skirmish going on.

But on a personal level....as much as depends on us we must live peacefully with all men. We cannot help what the others do. It's starts with one.

I know that we are told to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Jerusalem in hebrew literally translates to 'city of peace.' I was just expressing my frustration. Praying for peace is one thing but when other countries who are meddling with Israel and what is going on just irks me. Sorry, I'm gonna vent for a bit. The US has so many problems of it's own what gives us the right to be meddling in their business. I do agree that we should support Israel but to tell them what to do I strongly oppose. It reminds me of people who try to counsel couples in marriage when they themselves don't have a very good marriage. Take care of business in your house before meddling in others! I'll stop with that.

By peace are you meaning absence of war? 'Harmonious relationship' is what I seek after,

But on a personal level....as much as depends on us we must live peacefully with all men. We cannot help what the others do. It's starts with one.

KFC, I totally agree with you here. We are supposed to live peacefully with all men. But we need to start first with ourselves having peace within. Then from there show love/peace to our neighbors. We cannot help what others do but we can pray for them.

Sorry about the vent up there.

No problem Dude....vent away. I do think our country has been blessed for a reason in our supporting Israel. If it wasn't for us I do believe the Jews would not be there. The promise to Abraham from God "whoever blesses you I will bless and whoever curses you I will curse" is still in effect. I would like us to continue in our support of Israel. But whenever we seem to support the Palestinians or try to cater to them.... something bad always seems to happen.

From what I read in scripture I believe what we are seeing now is showing that God has a definite plan and has it all under control. God has given me a few examples of how he's involved in my own life personally, so I also believe he's involved in the goings on in the land that started it all as well.

It started over there and it's going to end over there. Read Ezek 37-40.......you can even see Iran mentioned (38:5)!!! It says they will go into Israel to invade Israel to destroy it but will be defeated. So when I hear all this about Iran......I know how it's going to end up. The Jews always end up as the pall bearers in their enemies funerals.

Did you know that Bethlehem means "HOUSE OF BREAD?" The bread of life was born in the house of bread......

Shalom!!!
