A few months ago I wrote about a couple who were riding on a motorcycle and had a very bad crash.   Go here:  http://kfc.joeuser.com/article/383571/Death They were hit from behind and it looked like both were not going to make it.  They were not wearing helmets.   At home were two teenagers who were distraught at possibly losing both parents.  Well here's the rest of the story.  As I wrote earlier, she was pronounced brain dead a fe...

Until one goes through a trying time you have no idea how you will react.  We think we may be this way or that but until we truly walk through the fire we don't know what areas of our life will really be affected either physically, mentally or emotionally.  My youngest son went through such a time recently with a divorce he never saw coming.  Being married only over a year he was looking forward to a  promising future with the young woman he loved. ...

What started out being an ordinary Saturday night turned out to be anything but.  We thought we were just going down to the store to get us a movie and instead felt like we were in one.  It was about 7 pm and we decided to go down to Publix, in the golf cart, to pick up a few groceries and get a movie.  After buying the groceries and chatting with the girl at the register, we went over to the Blockbuster Box and picked out our selection, a thriller.  Who knew we were about...

Three weeks ago I was asked if I would be willing to teach Sunday School for the teens.  Well first they asked if I would teach the little ones, but I opted instead to teach the teenagers.  They're way more fun and much more of a challenge.  I just love the snippy sarcastic attitudes and the sullen know it all looks.  Could eat it up with a spoon!  There was a day, when my kids were little, that I  remember having alot of respect for anyone who would take on the ...

I've mentioned on and off that since moving here to the south we've had quite the time finding a church home that we could feel comfotable in.  After staying the first 8 months or so in one church we  finally decided to move on; way past what should have been the expiration date.  Since then we've hit quite a few churches hoping to find sanctuary; a place where we could find a sense of belonging but also a place where we could be utilized.   For the most part we've...

My Dad turns 70 next week.  I can't remember ever seeing him on his birthday.  His passion is hunting.  So right now he's in his rustic but warm cabin deep in the Maine woods.  Sometimes my brother and/or my uncle and cousin go up for a few days to keep my Dad company.  Hunting is a family tradition in our home that is quickly dying out I'm afraid.  Ever since I can remember the month of November has been set aside for hunting.  My dad, his brot...

I've been here 10 months so far and the time has both flown by in some aspects and seems forever at other times.  During this time I've...... 1.  Made some new friends, but in a slow kind of way.  Am not the big party girl type.  2.  Have enjoyed decorating my new home and planting new flowers in my front yard 3.  Have stepped up my activity  by biking and swimming but have run less mileage and no road races 4.  Have actually seen the boys...

Has anybody else noticed the shrinking groceries? Many products seem to be getting smaller and smaller but the price seems to either stay the same or go up. I've noticed this little by little. The other day when I went grocery shopping it was really noticeable. I first noticed this when I went to reach for a jar of Hellman's mayo. When I picked up the jar it felt smaller to me than normal so I looked down to see the weight of it. It read 30 oz instead of the anticipated 32 oz. When did thi...
