A Response To Their Terror
Published on March 12, 2010 By KFC Kickin For Christ In Current Events

There has been alot of talk these days about earthquakes especially in lieu of what we've seen in Haiti, Chile and now Turkey. Here's a story from a Christian who is in Haiti and his observations knowing quite well that this kind of stuff doesn't usually make the evening news:

Miracle Days in the History of Haiti by Jerry Miel

Mr. Jerry Miel, a missionary / radio engineer in Haiti with World Team and Radio Lumiere (Radio Light),

went back to help in the aftermath of the earthquake.  He experienced the historic Prayer and Fasting and

sent these observations on February 17:

I think that I will remember this day as one of the most significant in my life, not because of what I did,

but for it's meaning...

Today was the one month anniversary of the great Haitian earthquake.  About three days ago Haitian President

Preval announced that there would be three days of holiday from work for the purpose of fasting and prayer

This is absolutely historic.

If you have ever been in Haiti as a visitor or missionary, could you ever have imagined such a pronouncement?

Could you imagine such an announcement from the U.S. President?

This morning I saw a young Haitian-American woman, the leader of a work team, crying because the Americans

could not understand the incredible importance of this day and wanted to go about business as usual.

Remember, it was only about six years ago that a former Haitian president called the nation to come together

to rededicate the nation to Voodoo / Satan.

This was not "a minute of silence for the deceased" or something as equally insignificant.  Whatever the

President might have originally intended, this became a real commitment for the Haitian people.  As I sit here

this evening, I can hear the preaching coming from a nearby church.

Services have been going on all day.... As we left the guest house about 7:30 a.m. this morning, we were met

by throngs of well dressed people headed to various churches.  The sounds of Christian music and worship filled

 the air everywhere.

Another observation -- there was NO traffic. Port-au-Prince streets are always clogged and overflowing with

bumper to bumper traffic.  This morning there were only a few vehicles on the roads, a few small buses

(tap taps), some UN and military vehicles, and a few private cars.

The same was true of foot traffic.  Usually the streets are also clogged with people walking.  Today there were

only a few and many of them dressed for church.  The only places with blocked traffic were in front of several

churches where the praying congregations had overflowed the buildings and the yards and had moved out into

the streets as well.

The next observation was that EVERYTHING was closed!  We could not find even one business or gas station

open.  There were no intercity buses running.  Whereas the sidewalks are usually overflowing with millions of

street venders, we only saw a few here and there.  The huge outdoor market near the wharf where thousands

work each day and cover most of the street, was EMPTY.

Where were all the people?  They were in churches and makeshift meeting sites. Every church

(except a Jehovah Witness site) had services going on, almost always overflowing into the streets.  Services

were also taking place outside.  In homeless camps, there were services.  Everywhere the nation was gathered

to worship and pray.  No, I did not see any voodoo, Islamic, or Buddhist services.  This scene was repeated in

every town and hamlet that we passed during the day.

Tonight, Pastor Ignace, who is sharing the room with me, asked this question: "Can people still say that Haiti is

a voodoo country?"  What has been happening and is continuing to happen in Haiti did not happen because of

the earthquake. It has been happening because the Haitian people know how to pray. This is a tremendous

outpouring of God's power as the result of prayer.  Twenty years ago I started praying for the gospel to change

the Haitian culture.

The only sadness that I feel today is for our nation, the United States .  While a nation that has long been under

Satan's oppression is turning to God with total commitment, our nation, founded on Godly values, has rejected

God and is rapidly trying to forget that His name even exists.  Let us pray for revival.

Friday, March 12, will mark 60 days since a major earthquake devastated the Presidential Palace and dwellings

in Port-au-Prince , the capital of Haiti , flattened other towns and claimed an estimated 230,000 lives.  Many of

us might recall hearing the hymn singing that was often going on in the background as we listened to

newscasts.  The  U.S. media largely ignored President Preval's call that his nation observe three days of prayer

and fasting February 12-14, just 30 days after the earthquake.

of course god could of course have got them to pray to him by being nice instead of killing them in their thousands and destroying the houses and life of hundreds of thousands.

fasting is only a significant sacrifice when those participating are used to having full bellies.

three days of official idleness on an island with a population threatened by disease and drowning?

is god really that venal or stupid?

While a nation that has long been under Satan's oppression

with friends who propogate such ignorance like this guy, haiti needs no enemas.

I wonder why god has chosen to punish the people of Haiti this severely

that's only because you don't believe in the power of Satan.

of course god could of course have got them to pray to him by being nice instead of killing them in their thousands and destroying the houses and life of hundreds of thousands.

and how exactly would that happen?  God was nice in the fact that He made reconciliation for our sins by giving His son to die in our place, yet we still sin against Him everyday.

It's very much known that God whispers to us in our pleasures and shouts to us in our pain.  It's only when we go thru trials and tribulations that we turn to God when no one else will do.  Usually, because of our sinful nature,  when things are going good we have no use for God.

I wonder why god has chosen to punish the people of Haiti this severely

I'm sure their voodoo didn't help things.  God's not going to bless a nation that celebrates Satanism.

Yes, lets hope the Puerto Ricans, Dominicans and Cubans learn from this and cleanse the Caribbean islands of wicked Santeria practices

ooo I don't know.  Perhaps god could have made it rain beer?  Or all their crops grow in days instead of months?  Or any number of things that would be totally unexplainable by science but which left them better off?

If I saw the field of wheat outside my house grow from seed to full plants in a week then I would belive and there would be more food instead of fields of dead people your ever so nice god made instead.

Wouldn't work Basmas.  If you read scriptures you'd see Jesus did these things yet the people still wouldn't believe.  In John 6 he fed the approx 15,000 people with a few loaves and fishes yet the people still wanted another sign.  He did many miracles for 3 1/2 years all to prove his deity yet people still killed him and would not accept him.

For an unbeliever, signs are never enough.  There's a saying that goes like this..."for some there is never enough proof, for others no proof is necessary."

Jesus said "even though a dead man comes to life, people still won't believe."

Jonah called out to God inside the whale.  The Israelites called out to God in the wilderness in their fear and suffering.  Before that, when they were under intense bondage by the Egyptians.  The thief on the cross called out to Jesus just before he died etc.

Time and time again we hear it's when we go thru testing and trials that we grow closer to God.  Not in the good times, but in the very worst of times.  In the good times, we have ourselves to rely on.  We don't need God.

But when there's nothing else, where do we go?  Like they say, when you reach bottom there is no other way to look but up.

for some there is never enough proof, for others no proof is necessary.

do you not see the irony here?

you undermine any claim you might otherwise make to having faith by demanding of  yourself--and attempting to convince others to accept--a blizzard of dubious(at best) evidence for that which can't be proven but only believed.

what's provably true requires no faith.

on Mar 16, 2010

the proof isn't necessary because the relationship is real.  It's like I don't have to prove to my husband I love him.  He knows.  Proof is not necessary.

I don't have to prove to my children that they are my children.  We have a relationship that transcends any proof out there.  Proof is not necessary.

Christ proved his love for us on the cross.  There is no more proof than that.  You either believe it or you don't.  You don't wait around for "more" proof.

it's a done deal.

on Mar 17, 2010

Proof is not necessary.

then why do you spend so much time and effort twisting logic and fact (men walking the earth with dinosaurs for example) to prove that which cannot nor need be proven?

what is it exactly you claim to be kicking for christ?  perhaps i've misunderstood your mission here?

on Mar 17, 2010

then why do you spend so much time and effort twisting logic and fact (men walking the earth with dinosaurs for example) to prove that which cannot nor need be proven?

Job wrote about the dinos so I suppose he saw them or knew about them.  There are ancient cave drawings that show man and dinos (or some sort of large dragon types) walking with man.  Remember the word "dinosaur" wasn't coined until I think it was 1841.  So how am I twisting logic and fact?  Maybe you are?

perhaps i've misunderstood your mission here?

I'm not sure what you mean?  I don't have a particular mission except to be an ambassador for Christ.  That's just who I am 24/7.

What do you think my mission is?

on Mar 18, 2010

Job wrote about the dinos so I suppose he saw them or knew about them.

thanks for making my point for me.

can you produce an original copy of job's writings or any tangible evidence job ever existed?

lotsa stuff was drawn on cave walls, including representations of a pantheon of deities.  do you accept their existence?

if you were truly a person of faith, your answer would be something like: "i believe the bible is literally true despite all evidence to the contrary; not because proof exists but despite the fact it doesnt.  if job's remains were discovered tomorrow with a copy of his book, it would make no difference to me whatsoever.  worse, i might then begin to wonder about all the rest for which no proof exists.  nothing erodes or devalues faith more than proof because it requires no faith whatsoever to accept what's provable true.

thomas' need to insert his hand into the body of a resurrected christ says it all about faith and a lack thereof.  if he didn't believe he was seeing jesus returned from the grave, would it be unreasonable to expect he'd begin wondering and eventually require more and more dramatic proof as time passed?

if you recall, those who benefited from jesus' miraculous cures weren't the wretches who cited new testament references but instead to those who didn't --which explains why jesus was never quoted as saying, "take up your pallet and walk; for your annoying micro research, obsessively literal interpretation of my every word and action as well as your dozens of creative, if totally unverifiable citations of things i might or might not really have said or done in the past (depending upon the translation you prefer), has saved you."

ambassadors rarely "kick".

what is it you claim to be kicking?
