But It Will Not Stop The People From Praying
Published on May 6, 2009 By KFC Kickin For Christ In Current Events

I'm not surprised, but am disappointed.  The President of our nation has just canceled the National Day of Prayer's observance in the White House.

This National Day of Prayer has been observed every single year since 1952, when Harry Truman first introduced it. It has been commemorated by every single President until now.  Why now?  Is this part of the big change?

Is this a good thing?

I believe more than ever that we need to come before God as a nation in corporate prayer.  As a nation we have much to pray about.

This is a good thing.

A big part of this day is to pray corporately for our leaders, our military, our families, our neighbors and co-workers.

 This is a good thing.

In the meantime while the White House chooses not to recognize this day tomorrow,  millions of people from all religious backgrounds will go to God in prayer seeking his wisdom and direction instead of their own.

Yes, this is a good thing regardless of religious affiliation.

I guess the President has it all under control.

We need to pray for our leaders more than ever before.

And that is a good thing.......

"If my people who are caled by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land."   2 Chron 7:14

Exactly and what is his example....not having a national day of prayer. In one of his first trips abroad while in Turkey, he said that we are not a Christian nation...and now this!

yes, that's why I said he's coming unmasked.  This is why I keep saying he's saying one thing but doing another.  He "says" he's a Christian, but a Christian doesn't act like this.

What I think is interesting is the fact that I've seen nothing at all on the liberal news on this as of yet.  It's pretty silent even though millions of people are involved in this.

The other thing worth noting is the fact that he had no problem in celebrating the Pagan Easter with an easter egg hunt on the White House grounds per usual.  There was much made about this Pagan ritual and his family taking part but when it comes to the true spiritual things he's very cold and distant......speaks volumes to me.

The other thing is the lavish Wednesday Night Cocktail parties he's brought into the White House.  He can have these things going on but when it comes to a day for the country to come together in unity to  pray to "another" deity he puts his hands up to stop it.

Think about all the Presidents who have welcomed this day for decades and think about the audacity of Obama to cancel it.

He's telling us something about himself.

oh yeah he is.  Actions do speak louder than words afterall.

Thanks for bringing the latest with Obama to our attention.

you know what's really interesting is the fact that I've got about 200 hits from outside referrals to this article.  Never had anything like that before....even close to that.  Pretty interesting.  If I'm taken out.....you'll know why.

and/or btw......I would NEVER ever commit suicide.  Just so you know.

Did he finally get that carpeting installed in the Oval office with the pentagram pattern?
I thought that was a swastika that he was getting.

Honestly....sadly....I wouldn't be surprised.

OK... KFC, last time I checked lying is a sin, and that is exactly what you are doing in this article. LYING. I could not believe what you write was true, so I did some research. All Obama did was go back to the way the day was celebrated BEFORE PRESIDENT BUSH. So by stating that Obama is ending a tradition started by Eisenhower is an outright lie. He still signed the proclimation creating a national day of prayer, just like every president since Eisenhower. He is just not going to have a religious photo op like Bush did. So apparently by your logic Reagan and Bush 1 were also as evil as Obama. They were subverting the religion of the USA and are horrible non-christians just like Obama. Get real, your blatent hatred is one of the most un-christian things I have ever seen.

Here is a link to a story about him stating a position defending the national day of prayer from  a lawsuit:

No, no, no! It's a Star, Hammer and Sickle over a swastika; he's taking the best of both tyrannies and making his own hybrid regime. Communism with Nazi tactics; can't go wrong!

I'm glad I'm not the only one that caught that; the catch is whether it flies. I'm betting no.

Notice how all the so-called "Christian" Conservatives were quick to jump on the hatred bandwagon?

I wouldn't say hatred or bandwagon; they just were quick to jump the gun period.

I would say Nitro Cruiser, Karma Girl and Right Winger's posts were pretty hateful.

Wow, no response......

There's no hatred here at all.  Honestly.  I actually prayed for Obama yesterday.

He did cancel any sort of observance or ceremony that the White House did in the past.  Yes, he did sign the proclamation....big whoop.  He put his John Hancock down on a piece of paper.  He's been pretty good at signing all sorts of things lately.

In fact I got information both from Fox News and CNN the day I wrote this.  Fox News used the word "cancel" and CNN used the words "toned down."  I guess it depends on which side of the fence you're on.  But I tend to look at both sides to make sure I keep myself in check.

But he couldn't be bothered to recognize a day that means alot to millions of people in this country?  He certainly had no problem in celebrating a Pagan Holiday and hosting coctail parties once a week in the White House.

Since he's been in office these 100 days I can't think of one thing (maybe some can?) that he's done for the millions of Christians in this country as he has the other myriad of other groups out there.  This one day could have helped his relationship with the Christian Conservatives.  It seems as though he's doing everything in his power to tick them off.  But that's just my opinion.

I will repeat....he says he's a Christian but there doesn't seem to be enough evidence to convict him in a court of law.

don't pat yourself on the back to hard now JD.  I was out all morning and just now got on the computer.  I have no problem answering my critics.

I actually agree with this sometimes...but not this time.  Remember I wrote about this when I blogged about Sensationalism Sells?

Two things:

1.I disagree

2. Karma is, I believe, Buddhist...

Sensationalism does sell KFC, and I'm afraid that your post and the evidence provided points to you being sensationalist.

I guess it depends on which side of the fence you're on. But I tend to look at both sides to make sure I keep myself in check.

If you look at it, CNN was right. Bush picked up steam on it, but before most presidents were very (for the most part)...low key, for lack of a better term.
